Anomaly Warzone Earth

Anomaly Warzone Earth is an RTS (real-time strategy) game that was released in 2011. The story takes place in the near future, when aliens have started to appear and capture the world’s most populated cities. The player takes on the character of the Commander of the 14th Platoon, an armor troop that is tasked to defend the earth against alien invaders. The battalion’s primary goal is to gather information and investigate anomalies around different site, including where an alien spacecraft has crashed.

The gameplay is described as reverse tower defense. Players do not control the convey vehicles directly but make sure that the convoy is able to pass through the streets on the way to the anomaly site successfully. The player will have to devise a plan to bring the battalion close to the site to investigate the anomalies surrounding it. The Commander has to be careful because the aliens have built defensive towers around the sites. Players make use of power-ups such as smoke screens to remain undetected. In addition, players can add offensive and defensive tools to their convoy by purchasing weapons and other objects.

The commander’s battalion must bring the enemy down using the anomaly information found, from mapping a route to choosing the units for deployment. The player takes his army through the streets and engages the alien forces in tactical battles. Upgrades and new assault units are unlocked as the player advances through the game.
