WebCam Spy is an application used for streaming on the computer what a webcam is currently capturing. The program allows users to watch over their homes when they are away at work. It can also be used in the office setting to check on employees’ activities. The software does this by sending the user a URL of the page where the webcam stream can be watched live. The URL can be opened in any web browser. The program also allows captured shots from the camera to be sent to the user's email address automatically.
Alternately, the user can open the URL, download the images, and save these in the PC's hard drive. In this way, all captured screenshots from the connected cameras can be analyzed by the user. Since the images are saved in JPG format, it can be opened in popular image viewing applications such as Microsoft Picture Viewer. The images can also be transferred to popular devices like the iPhone. In this way, there is no need to look at the images using the computer. The images can also be sent through email as attachments. WebCam Spy also has a messaging service, which enables it to send notifications to the user's mobile phone.
