Runaway: A Twist of Fate

Pendulo Studios (Proprietary)

Runaway: A Twist of Fate is an adventure game of the point-and-click genre. It is the third and last installment in the Runaway game series developed by Pendulo Studios. The game is released on May 2010. It follows the adventures of Brian Basco, the main protagonist, and his partner, Gina Timmins. On the previous two games, Brian Basco was the only playable character. This game added Gina as a playable character, and in fact, A Twist of Fate’s first playable character.

Runaway: A Twist of Fate starts off from where the second Runaway game, The Dream of the Turtle, ended. The scene opens with Gina attending a funeral—her boyfriend Brian’s. In the previous game, Brian was held for trial for the death of General Kordsmier. However, Brian was declared insane and sentenced to spend his time in a mental hospital. Brian supposedly died inside the institution. However, right after the funeral, Gina received a phone call from Brian for her help to release him from the grave as he is very much alive. This is where Chapter 1 starts off.

Runaway: A Twist of Fate features six playable chapters. Other characters include Dr. Ian Bennett, Brian’s psychologist who also attended the funeral, and the second game’s character, Tarantula, who is this release’s main antagonist. The game also presents other minor characters like Loretta Palmer, Chapman, Jacob Z. Kurgan, and Gabbo Spiegelman, among others.
