CyberLink Corp. (Shareware)

PowerDVD is a media player by CyberLink. It was first released in 1996. It specializes in DVD playback. PowerDVD comes in the following modes: Pro mode, Standard mode, and Ultra mode. These modes contain different features.

With PowerDVD’s TrueTheater 3D feature, users can convert 2D Blu-ray movies to 3D. You can also turn 2D images, slideshows, and videos into 3D. Its TrueTheater HD feature allows high definition viewing of DVDs and other video files through improving the video resolution (from 480 pixels up to 1080 pixels). Along with its other feature, TrueTheater Motion, videos can be played fluidly. PowerDVD is also equipped with YouTube enhancement.

Another feature of PowerDVD is TrueTheater Surround in which audio output is amplified to imitate surround sound. This media player is optimized to match today’s big screen televisions. Any DVD in standard format is suited for use with the PowerDVD’s TrueTheater Stretch feature.

For videos taken with camcorders, PowerDVD has a feature that eliminates tracking. This feature is called TrueTheater Stabilizer. This application also has features called TrueTheater Denoise and TrueTheater Lighting, which make photos and videos appear more detailed and less pixilated.

PowerDVD has “Instant” player options, which allow easy zooming, viewing, searching, and browsing. It also has a ‘Smart Media Library’ that displays all your media content into grid or list views. You can also bookmark your favorite scenes with its “Movie Marks” feature.
