Thomas Braun, Jens Klingen, Robin Krom (Open Source)

Greenshot is a Windows screen-capturing application which was first released in 2007. The program was specifically designed for developers, projects managers, and testers in need of desktop screenshots for their projects. The program is available in more than 20 languages.

Greenshot offers three main functions:
• Screenshot – The program provides several screenshot modes – Capture Region, Capture Last Region, Capture Window, Capture Full Screen, and Capture Internet Explorer. The Capture Region mode is used for capturing a specific region of the screen. The Capture Last Region is for re-capturing the most recently captured screen. Capture Window mode captures a selected or active window while the Capture Full Screen mode is used for capturing the entire screen. Users can also capture a scrolling image of websites through the Capture Internet Explorer mode.
• Image Editing Functions – Greenshot offers various tools for editing images. Users can add highlights, annotations, and even obfuscations to the captured screen. The built-in editor serves as a vector graphics editor. However, it also provides pixel-based filters. This function also allows users to draw shapes and add texts. Special filter tools are available as well.
• Export Function – Users can export the captured screen to various locations. Captured screens can be copied to a clipboard in Bitmap format, and can be printed and stored into the file system. Attaching the screenshot to emails is possible as well.
