Ship Simulator 2008

VSTEP (Shareware)

Ship Simulator 2008 is a ship simulation video game developed by VSTEP. Published and distributed by Lighthouse Interactive, the game was officially released on July 13, 2007. As a ship simulation game, it has the ability to simulate how to maneuver and control different types of ships on various environments. However, the game does not consider current and wind effects. The game features eight sea environments and seven ports. It also offers six additional ships.

There are two ways to play the game. The first one is through the Free Roaming mode. In this mode, the player can choose which ship and environment to play on. Setting the time and weather is possible as well. Free Roaming mode does not have a clear objective. Rankings have also no bearing in this mode. After reaching the end of the chosen environment, the player has the option to choose another environment to go next. The second way to play this game is through playing missions. In this mode, players need to reach and accomplish certain goals without any damages to the ship. The missions’ level of difficulty varies. Some missions requires the player to use a single ship to control with minimum goals while some missions require controlling multiple ships all at once, with each ship having separate goals.

The game features an expansion pack called Ship Simulator 2008 – New Horizons. This expansion offers 8 additional ships and a multiplayer game mode. A sailing area, 20 additional missions, and walkthrough options are also provided in this expansion.
