Thief 2: The Metal Age

Looking Glass Studios (Proprietary)

Thief II: The Metal Age is a first-person stealth game that is a sequel to Thief: The Dark Project. The game’s plot follows the foundations set in the original game, with more emphasis on the stealth component (alongside the toned-down combat and action) and minimized supernatural elements. The game is split into non-linear missions with more ways to play in large levels and with more enemies, items, and objectives (and solutions) to work on. The player takes the role of Garrett, a master thief who undertakes missions that include theft, kidnapping, and sabotage while uncovering a conspiracy.

In Thief II: The Metal Age, the City has gone steam-industrialized (engines, robots, devices) as introduced by the Mechanists, a new cult formed after the old Hammerite religion, headed by Father Karras. Opposing them is a sect called the Pagans who shun technology and love nature, led by Viktoria, a wood nymph in human form. There is also the corrupt sheriff, Gorman Truart who oppresses people, mostly the weak.
With new tools (flash mines amd scouting orbs) and clever gadgets to use (and more loot to steal), Garrett keeps himself alive, and reveals Truart’s secrets. He saves the city while keeping true to his form as a thief and becoming the reluctant savior of the city in the middle of a three-sided war.
