Macromedia FreeHand MX is a vector graphics application developed by Macromedia and released in 2003. This software enables users to create two-dimensional vector graphics used for desktop publishing, professional illustrations, and web content creations. Macromedia FreeHand MX is now under Adobe Systems.

Macromedia FreeHand MX features a window interface with the tools panel on the left hand portion and command panel on the right hand panel. These may be minimized to reveal the blank workspace. It features a multipage design environment which enables users to complete all aspects of a design in one document. It also features intuitive page management for a streamlined design workflow. It also features a Connector Lines tool with customizable connector line styles. It also features several design tools including an Extrude tool, Eraser tool, Blend tool, Pen tool, and Freeform tool. It also features several symbol-based brushes and spray strokes.

Macromedia FreeHand MX enables users to build several attributes on a single illustration and still edit the base file. This software also features live effects which enables users to see the applied effect in real time. These effects may include bend, transform, and sketch, as well as drop shadow, bevel, and gradient transparency effects. This program also enables users to apply vector transparency  without losing the editability of vector graphics. Transparency attributes may be set as to location, opacity, shape, and color. This program also comes with a perspective grid enabling users to see their creations in 3D.
