Scar is a Stalker mercenary. As such, he can do missions for any factions of his choice. The player may also join any faction except for the Military and Swamp-dwelling Renegade factions. In some cases, the player may also choose a neutral side. Scar’s ultimate goal is defeating Strelok.

The game has both single player and multiplayer modes. The single player mode contains RPG and FPS elements wherein the player completes objectives in order to complete the final mission. The game’s multiplayer mode can be played via LAN or the Internet. There are 10 available maps for the multiplayer mode. Players can also choose between three game types – Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Artifact Hunt.
