Risen

Risen is an action role-playing video game developed by Piranha Bytes. It was first released in 2009. The game is set in a fictional island called Faranga. This island has different vegetation zones and sub-climates where humans and other creatures live. The storyline narrates the story of Faranga and the mythical forces that surround it. There are three main factions in the game – Don Esteban, Mages and Inquisition.

Although the game lets the player choose which faction to join, the storyline is linear. The game features several missions to be completed by the player. The game’s combat system enables the player to use different types of weapons such as fighting staffs, swords and bows. The player also has the option to play as a pure fighter, a mage or a combination or both. At the beginning of the game, the player’s skills are not readily available. The player must unlock these skills first by gaining learning points in the selected skill. Risen also features a system for the abilities and professions. These two can be level up by using points acquired throughout the game. The game also keeps the entire quests conversations in the quest diary. The player can access this diary throughout the game. The player may also check the objectives completed through the Quest Maps.
