ChromEd

Techland (Shareware)

ChromEd, or simply Chrome, is a first-person shooter (FPS) game program developed by Techland and published by Strategy First. It was first released on October 28, 2003. The game has both single player and multiplayer mode. In the game, the player will assume the role of Bolt Logan, a bounty hunter. On the game’s first assignment, Logan will be ambushed because of his partner’s betrayal. After surviving the ambush, he will meet Carrie and eventually become his partner. As the story progresses, Carrie and Bolt will soon discover a conspiracy that involves the discovery of “chrome” – the most precious resource in the world.

As a FPS game, Chrome’s gameplay involves navigating into various 3D environments and fighting enemies using different available weapons. From time to time, the player will encounter puzzles, which is required to enter new areas in the game. There are also six different types of vehicles available in the game. The player can also acquire different items. Aside from the basic items (i.e. health packs, weaponry and ammo), the player can also pick up food and even CD players. Like most FPS games, the inventory space is limited in Chrome. Items in the inventory can also be arranged. The player also has an option to customize the loadout of the weapons before starting a mission (except for the first mission).

Chrome also features what is called “implants”. During the campaign mode, the player will automatically receive implants. These implants will provide Logan with superhuman powers including movement speed, zoom level, increased accuracy as well as reaction time.
