Yahtzee

WildTangent, Inc. (Freeware)

Yahtzee is a computer game developed and released by Wild Tangent in May 2012. Yahtzee is derived from a board game of the same name involving five dice. The goal is to achieve the most points through certain combinations.

Yahtzee is played using five dice, which, can be rolled up to three times for every turn. This game features thirteen unique dice combinations with equivalent points. Some combinations have definite points while others are equivalent to the cumulative value of the dice combination. The Yahtzee scorecard is composed of two levels--the upper section and the lower section. The upper section records the total number of points that correspond to a particular dice face. If a player scores more than 65 points in the upper section, an additional 35 points is awarded as a bonus. The lower section shows the points garnered for making one of thirteen poker-themed combinations. A Yahtzee is a five-of-a-kind that amounts to 50 points. A three-of-a-kind and a four-of-a-kind get the accumulated value of the dice faces. A full house gets 25 points. A straight combination can be a small straight or a large straight. A small straight is composed of four sequential dice combinations while a large straight is composed of five. They are worth 30 and 40 points, respectively. These combinations may only be used once in a game. Yahtzee players can opt to use all three rolls or choose to end the turn without completing all three.
