Sid Meier's Colonization

Firaxis Games (Shareware)

Sid Meier’s Colonization is a turn-based strategy computer game that was initially released in 1994. The game takes place during the European colonization from 1492 to 1850. Players can choose to control one of the colonial forces (England, Spain, France, or The Netherlands). Players must be careful when choosing a nation as each has its own advantage.

• England – England is represented by the color red. Their starting units are soldiers, pioneers, and caravels. This nation is efficient in cross production.
• Spain – The Spanish are color yellow. Their starting units are veteran soldiers, pioneers, and caravels. Choosing this nation will give the player a 50% increase in military bonus.
• France – France is represented by the color red. Their starting units are soldiers, expert pioneers, and caravels. The advantage of choosing this nation is easier negotiations with other nations.
• The Netherlands – The Dutch are represented by the color orange. Their starting units are soldiers, pioneers, and merchantmen. The advantage of choosing this nation is better profits due to better trade prices.

One of the main goals in Colonization is gathering resources (food, lumber, and ore). These resources are used for increasing the population, building structures, and manufacturing different goods. In order to win the game, the player must defeat the Royal Expeditionary Force.
