MX vs ATV Reflex

Double Helix Games (Proprietary)

MX vs. ATV Reflex is an off-road car racing game released by THQ in December 2009 as part of its MX vs. ATV game series. The first two games, MvA Unleashed and MvA Untamed, were released in 2005 and 2009, respectively. MX vs. ATV Reflex focuses on motocross and supercross racing with players driving ATVs or motocross bikes. Aside from regular motocross events, MX vs. ATV Reflex also features Free ride, omnicross, waypoint racing, freestyle motocross, and champion sport track.

MX vs. ATV Reflex gameplay is different from the first two in the sense that Reflex utilizes a different physics engine, and a radically different control scheme aptly labeled Reflex. Reflex control scheme utilizes both left and right analog sticks—left for the handlebars and right for the rider’s body movement. This feature allows the player to control the game in the same way they would ride a real motocross. As to physics, MX vs. ATV Reflex utilizes real-time terrain deformation, which allows real time changes on the game surroundings. Vehicles can create breaking bums, ruts, skids, and acceleration bumps just like any real vehicle would. Aside from that, the surrounding physics is completely dynamic adding a realistic feel to the game.

MX vs. ATV Reflex may be played offline and online. Online mode offers public and private rooms, each room featuring a specific event. MX vs. ATV Reflex online can host 12 players or less. Online Player progress is tracked using their Motocard, which contains level number and experience points.
