Sid Meier's Civilization 4

Firaxis Games (Shareware)

Sid Meier’s Civilization 4, also called Civ4, is a turn based strategy game that was first released in 2005. The game is the fourth installment in the Civilization series of games. The aim of the game is to expand the empire’s territory by building structures and beating other civilizations. At the start of the game, players have a limited amount of resources to work with. Players win the game by finishing one of the five main goals in the game:

• Conquer all the other civilizations
• Be the first to land a sleeper ship in the Alpha Centauri
• Control a majority of the world’s overall population
• Increase the culture level of at least three cities to Legendary
• Be declared World Leader

There is also a game time clock wherein the player must finish one of the five goals to win. In the event that no civilization reaches these five goals, the civilization with the highest score wins the game. Players can choose one of the 18 civilizations that are available in the game. Each of the civilizations in the game have their own strengths and weaknesses. Civilization 4 also comes with modding tools that enable users to create units, maps, and even civilizations.
