Return to Castle Wolfenstein (RTCW) Multiplayer is a first-person-shooter game program developed by Nerve Software. It was originally released on November 19, 2001 by Activision. The game is based on Wolfenstein 3D. The game is about the Office of Secret Actions Allied agents and their investigation regarding the SS Paranormal Division, a personal project of Heinrich Himmler. Upon investigation, the agents were captured and imprisoned in the Castle Wolfenstein.

The Multiplayer gameplay of Return to Castle Wolfenstein is an objective game mode. Players are divided into two teams – the Allies and Axis. Each team has their own objectives. Usually, the Allies’ goal is to prevent the Axis from performing their goals and vice versa. The goals are also divided into two categories – primary and secondary. The primary objectives are needed to be completed to win the game while the secondary objectives are optional missions. Although optional, secondary objectives offer advantages to the team once completed. Different weapons are available to both teams. The players have four classes to choose from – Soldier, Lieutenant, Medic, and Engineer.

There are also three game modes available in Return to Castle Wolfenstein Multiplayer. These are Stopwatch, Checkpoint, and Deathmatch. Each game mode allows different experiences for players. The Stopwatch requires the players to complete the objectives within a time limit while the Checkpoint game mode requires the team to capture the flags first.
