Taleworlds Entertainment (Proprietary)

Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword is a video game expansion pack released by TaleWorlds Entertainment in May 2011. This game is the direct sequel of the 2008 video game, Mount & Blade. Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword is a standalone expansion pack where players are not required to install the previous game in order for the expansion pack to run. An expansion pack is a game supplement that adds new features, characters, controls, and story to a previous game installment. Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword features a role-playing action genre similar to its predecessor. In this video game genre, players take control of a character in interacting with the game environment. Role playing games allows the player to perform actions such as talking with in-game characters, purchasing items, enter structures, and do combat actions.

Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword retains most of the original Mount & Blade game play elements such as controls for melee and archery attacks, focus on mounted combat, and siege game mode. The expansion takes the player in a new setting where the character can choose to fight for one of five factions in order to control Eastern Europe. These five playable factions include: the Commonwealth of Poland, the Ukrainian Cossack Hetmanate, the Russian Tsardom of Moscovites, the Kingdom of Sweden, and the Crimean Khanate. Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword also retains the faction organization setup where each faction has its own monarchs and vassals. The game also introduces more modern post-medieval weaponry and tactics such as pistols, grenades, and cannon artillery. In Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword, players can now bribe guards in order to gain entry to a fortification, poison the castle’s water supply, and blow a hole in walls using gunpowder. In addition, this game includes book items that boost the character’s attributes making him more effective in combat situations.
