PlexUTILITIES

Plextor (Proprietary)

PlexUTILITIES is a program that provides information on the state of computer disks. The program is divided into three parts – View Information, Drive Adjustment, and Quality Testing.

View Information is useful before burning a disc. With this tool, users will be able to see the disc’s characteristics so that there won’t be any errors when burning. View Information provides the drive’s writing ability, as well as the supported disc types. Advanced computer users can also view the drive’s hardware information (read speed, buffer size, random access time, etc).

The Quality Testing tool can be used after burning a disc. When burning a disc, there may be some problems that do not immediately show up. The tool scans the surface of the burned disc to ensure that there are no scratches. It also checks for jitter to prevent skipping and distortions, especially on audio discs.

The last tool is Drive Adjustment, which provides six types of adjustments to improve the quality of burning. The program also comes with a built in PlexERASE tool that erases all the data on discs completely. It has two modes – Quick and Full erase.

PlexUTILITIES automatically alerts users of updates for software and firmware. This ensures that the user is always using the latest version of the program.
