HP QuickPlay

CyberLink Corp. (Freeware)

HP QuickPlay, or simply QuickPlay, is an application developed by CyberLink Corporation for Hewlett-Packard. This program is used for playing multimedia content directly from supported HP computers without having to start the computer’s operating system. The program is available at HP dv100 series and above, which includes the Pavilion HDX notebook series. It is also featured in other HP Compaq notebooks.

QuickPlay offers two main components. These are the Direct Function and Windows-only component. The Direct Function component offers users with direct access to multimedia content on the hard drive upon booting of the computer. This component is launched through an external button found on HP-supported notebooks or through a remote control. The Windows-only component offers additional karaoke and gaming functions. The Windows-only component requires users to login to their user account before being able to run QuickPlay.

The program offers different tools for multimedia purposes. These tools are separated into two modes – Music and DVD mode. The Music Mode allows users to play and manage music. The configuration settings available in this mode are found at the Music Status Panel and the Control Panel, which can be found at the Music Console. The DVD Mode enables users to open, play, and navigate the option for DVD movies.
