World Editor

Blizzard Entertainment (Freeware)

Warcraft III World Editor, or simply World Editor, is a software development tool created by Blizzard Entertainment. It was developed for the Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne as the games’ built-in level editor. The program enables players to create and personalize their own maps. It is used to make cut scenes with voice-overs support. It also has advanced features that offer custom tilesets, models, and icons. The JASS scripting language by Blizzard, which is used for programming difficult actions, is supported by this program.

Warcraft III World Editor offers different modules for personalizing the map features. It has the Campaign Editor that is used for creating custom campaigns by combining different maps. Using same units for multiple maps is also possible. There is also the Terrain Editor that can be used for editing map terrains and adding doodads and water. Placing buildings and player units using the tool palette is also possible. Another module is called the Import Trigger Editor, which is used for creating triggers. Creating custom AI scripts for players is also possible using the AI Editor module. There is also the Object Editor module that allows players to change the attributes of the objects in the games (i.e. abilities of units, items, and buildings). The last module is called the Import Manager, which is used for importing custom mini-maps, models, sounds, and loading-screens into the maps.
